Arsene Wenger has insisted that his Arsenal side will not be getting carried away by their position at the top of the Premier League after their 2-1 win over Everton on Saturday.

The Gunners moved one point clear at the top of the pile ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby showdown at Old Trafford.

Arsenal took the lead in the 36th minute when Olivier Giroud nodded in Mesut Ozil’s fine cross – and Laurent Koscielny made it 2-0
when he headed home in the 38th minute.

Everton pulled one back when Gabriel Paulista deflected Ross Barkley’s effort past Petr Cech
before half-time but Arsenal held on for their fourth straight win.

Arsenal are now top of the table for the first time since February 2014, but Wenger called on his team to keep their focus and continue
to work hard as the season unfolds.

“Look, let’s keep going,” Wenger said on Sky Sports when asked about Arsenal’s title hopes.

“Let’s continue to grow and keep the humility and desire to grow as a team.

“We lost the first game [of the season] here at The Emirates and nobody would have said after that game that we would be top of the
league tonight so that shows we can recover from setbacks.

“Be together, work hard together and you have a chance.”

Arsenal’s next game is a trip to Shefield Wednesday in the fourth round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
