This could be a very good weekend for Arsenal fans — the Sun reports that the Gunners have taken the lead in a “£20 million battle with Chelsea for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.”
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mkhitaryan, the report says, is keener to move to the Emirates than Stamford Bridge after failing to sign a new Dortmund deal — but Tottenham are interested and could yet have a say in his destination.
Dortmund have been trying to tie Mkhitaryan to a new deal since the turn of the year, but the 27-year-old has yet to put pen to paper and is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
In yet more Arsenal news, goalkeeper David Ospina could be on his way out after Turkish club Besiktas revealed an interest in signing him.
The Sun reports that they tried and failed to bring him in last year and quotes sporting director Gokhan Keskin as saying: “We are targeting him.”
