Arsenal supporters have voted French defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin as their
player of the month on the Gunners website.

The 24-year-old has featured in each of his side’s matches so far this season, clocking five appearances including the Charity Shield win over Chelsea, and despite a mixed start in
the Premier League by the side, Coquelin has continued where he left off last campaign,
putting in tenacious performance after tenacious performance as the defensive
lynchpin in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.
It continues a superb turnaround for the Frenchman, who was on loan to Championship side Charlton last winter, with an Arsenal career seemingly more and more unlikely.
But Wenger recalled the player in December, and Coquelin quickly claimed a regular role in the side that would go on to see him become a vital man for the Gunners..
It meant Wenger eschewed entering the market for a defensive midfielder in the recent transfer window, such is his confidence in the performances of a player who will surely now be targeting a France cap before the end of the season.
