Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry says Manchester United have taken a “massive gamble”
after signing striker Anthony Martial.
The Red Devils completed the £36m deal for the teenager on
the last day of the summer transfer window.
And although Henry believes that the 19- year-old will have a
bright future, he says it was “weird” for Manchester United to pay such a high price for a young player.
“It is a weird one for me, we’re from the same town in France so I knew about him way before he went to Lyon and then
Monaco,” Henry is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“So it is a massive gamble but you have to do that these days, especially in the situation Manchester United are in.
“He has pace and we saw him at the Emirates last season causing trouble for the Arsenal defence [in the Champions
“He certainly has a bright future
but there is question mark is he going to perform at United?
“We saw Angel Di Maria, an established and experienced player, who couldn’t make it at United but I wish him well.”
