– As 8 Arsenal players make top 50
– Jenkinson weigh in at 32nd
Alexis Sanchez has shot to the top of the Sky’s Premier League Power Rankings following his brace against Manchester United last weekend, with the Chilean blowing his nearest competition out of the water.
The former Barcelona star got off to a slow start this season, and didn’t look likely to recreate the form which saw him become our top scorer last season with 25 goals in all competitions. With a hat-trick against Leicester kicking off a spree of six goals in three games however, he’s looked back to his best in recent weeks.
He was unquestionably the best player on the pitch against Manchester United, which is saying something considering how fantastic the likes of Mesut Özil and Theo Walcott were. Hopefully he continues in this vein of form, and helps guide us to Premier League glory this season.
Other Arsenal players in the Top 50 rank include surprisingly Nacho Monreal in the 4th position, also Mesut Ozil despite been touted as a lazy player by many Arsenal fans and football pundits weigh in at 10th position.
These were followed by the likes of Theo Walcott, Petr Cech, Gector Bellerin, Santi Carzola and Per Mertesacker.
However, in the 32nd position is on loan Arsenal defender, Carl Jenkinson who has been a main stay in the West Ham United defence.
Second in the list is Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, who shot up the rankings following his five goals against Newcastle. He is still nearly 3000 points below Alexis however, which shows just how fantastic the talismanic Gunner has been.
1 Alexis Sanchez
4 Nacho Monreal
10 Mesut Ozil
15 Theo Walcott
16 Petr Cech
17 Hector Bellerin
23 Santi Cazorla
50 Per Mertesacker

It looks like we’ve finally received some positive injury news with the Telegraph reporting that Laurent Koscielny
and Per Mertesacker are set to face Stoke while Jack Wilshere is also closing in on his
Koscielny was a doubt after aggravating a back injury while away with the France squad
and was forced to miss their win over Serbia on Monday night.
There were fears he may be facing a spell out as it was also a back problem that kept Kos
out of our draw with Liverpool a couple of weeks ago.
However, the Telegraph claim that he is back in full training and is expected to play against
Stoke City on Saturday afternoon.
The Frenchman could resume his partnership alongside Mertesacker at the back as the
newspaper also says that the German giant will be back in contention this weekend.
Per hasn’t featured in our last two games because of a virus but it looks like he’ll be
available against Stoke.
Whether he’ll start remains to be seen though as Gabriel has
performed well in his absence.
In a triple boost, Jack Wilshere is also closing in on his injury comeback with the Telegraph
claiming he’ll return to training next week.
Jack’s been out for over a month after fracturing his fibula at the start of the season but hopefully he can put his latest injury problem behind him and get his season back on track.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger says defenders Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny could be ruled out of
Saturday’s away game against
The pair did not feature in Monday’s goalless draw against Liverpool as they were replaced by Calum Chambers and Gabriel Paulista in the
heart of the Arsenal defence.
“Per Mertesacker is sick,” Wenger told reporters.
“How long will that sickness take? I don’t know. Koscielny has a back problem. Having said that, our two centre
backs played well in the second half.
“Chambers and Gabriel
do not have the experience of playing together, they’ve come in from one day into the next, but overall we didn’t concede.
“Petr Cech saved us two or three times in the first half. In the second half I think we should’ve won the game. We were a bit unlucky, we lacked a bit physically and collectively to finish what we started.
“The West Ham game left a trace in our heads, and it was important tonight not to lose because you could see that was a shock for us and it was important for us to get that game out of our system.
Arsenal are considering offering a contract to 38-year-old defender Mario Yepes, according to reports in Colombia.
The Gunners are in need of defensive reinforcements after failing to sign a replacement for Thomas Vermaelen during the transfer window, and Arsene Wenger has now turned his attention to Yepes.
According to reports, Wenger is said to be a long-term fan of the experienced centre back and could offer him a short-term contract to provide cover for Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and youngster Calum Chambers.
Yepes is a free agent after leaving Italian side Atalanta at the end of last season, and his agent told reporters last month that he is in England looking to sign for a Premier League team.
A 6’1″ centre back, Yepes has made almost 600 professional appearances to date.
